Why a desktop app for your computer?
For your security, web browsers cannot scan whole drives or system folders. So local scanning lives in a small, fast desktop app that reads your files on your device and never uploads them. Your cloud drives have proper, permissioned APIs, so those you will be able to scan right here in the browser.
